Ruth Martin Pottery

The 66 pieces in this collection offer a vast range in periods and ceramic typologies, providing examples of everything from utilitarian lamps to fine decorative vases. These objects provide a comprehensive date range, demonstrating the evolution of style and function in standard ceramic forms dating from the Chalcolithic period up to the Islamic Age. Many of these objects display well preserved seal impressiions as seen on these jar handles below.

 While many of these objects remain in use for student seminars and ceramic workshops, rotating exhibits are continually on display to the public in the lobby of Roberts Library
